Nanfang Hospital of Southern Medical University is a large comprehensive three-level A-level hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research and preventive health care. It is one of the top 100 hospitals in the country. It is the First Affiliated Hospital and the First Clinical Medical College of Southern Medical University (formerly the First Military Medical University). The hospital was founded in 1941. In August 2004, it was transferred from the army to Guangdong Province. Ranked 19th in 2015 China's Best Hospital Rankings (Fudan Edition).
